Title: Problem with Monitor
Post by: Darby05 on October 29, 2014, 08:25:42 pm
Hey everyone!

I have a small problem with my donkey kong jr cabinet.  Whenever i start it up, the left most vine can barely be seen.  its blacked out all the way up.  When it sits for about a 30 minutes turned on, it slowly starts to appear.  So by 30 minutes the vine can easily be seen.  But why does this happen and what can i do to fix it.
Thanks a lot guys!

it sounds like jail bars, depends on the monitor model but it could be related to a leaky capacitor

When in doubt, cap kit.

The 20EZ monitors are pretty easy to cap. I've done a few so far myself, and only ever had issues with 1.

I don't recommend doing a flyback on this for 2 reasons.
#1: I don't think thats the problem you're having
#2: You have to modify the chassis for the new one to fit properly (the remote focus board) and do some extra soldering to make it work.

Also, Bob Roberts sells cap kits for the audio board. If you've got humming or staticky sounds, spring for the audio board cap kit and save on shipping.
