Title: Need X-arcade help....
Post by: Arcadegopher on October 27, 2014, 08:33:07 pm
:(... I have mame running and even my roms running but my x-arcade tankstick will not do anything... When I plug it in it will not light up... The only thing it does currently is function as a mouse. I have tried everything... Unplugging mouse, messing around in settings etc. Can anyone help? :( thanks...

Head to this page and follow the instructions.  It's X-Arcade's test program.

Did the controls ever work, or is this a new one?

Are you using the usb or PS2 (old style keyboard) connection?

The old PS2 connectors must be plugged in before the PC is turned on.
They aren't plug and play like USB devices.
You'll also need to have a PS2 keyboard connected to the x-arcade or it won't work.

Edit:
The trackball and two back pinball buttons are on a separate interface than the rest of the stuff.
They show up as a mouse and the other stuff shows up as a keyboard.

Thanks very much for the detail. Going to try it now. Will post back how I made out.

Another thing, if that does not work, check to make sure all the connections are secure in the PCB (inside the base) as they can work out during shipping. I also noticed on mine (this was with the tracball so....) that in the bundle of excess wires the clear rubber boots on the quick connects had slipped up/off  and that the quick connects were making contact making things act all wonky.

If all else fails contact support. I have used their support and it worked out well (for a PCB exchange) and it went smoothly.

I tried putting in the keyboard and doing what you said. It gave me an error message, wouldn't reconize the keyboard and still will not even get the light on.

It gave me an error message

What gave you an error message?  What did the message say?

Did you try using the USB connector instead?

Nothing much else to do, but contact xgaming.
