Title: Wire or solder (for video signal)
Post by: Serpent on December 14, 2003, 06:24:43 am
I'm planing on building another VGA to SCART cable. For the one I have made I've soldered the little cables to the pins in the SCART connector. Since I'm not very good at soldering, I've thought that maybe it would be a good idea to, instead of buying a SCART connector, buy a whole SCART cable, and cut one end. It already has all the cables soldered to the connector, so I would just have to join the little cables from the SCART with those from the VGA. Now, my question is: is this method recommended? When you are dealing with electronic input, such a controller, I don't think that wiring instead of soldering has any importance, but what about here, when cables are transmiting video signal. Would I experience interferences or worse quality than having the cables soldered to the pins? Thanx!

Either method should work fine.  Just be sure to use rosin core solder for electronics, not acid core.
