Title: Building MAME computer INSIDE of the control panel
Post by: ShadeValryn on October 11, 2014, 08:54:13 am
Has anybody tried this? I'm considering building the computer for my 4 player machine inside the actual control panel itself with only a VGA and power plug coming out of the front.  I was thinking then I could remove the control panel and transport it to my buddies houses so we can just plug and play on their TVs if we wanted.  My plan was to use a powered molex PCI-E ribbon cable to move the GPU sideways to where I wanted, with the exhaust blowing out of the front along with the radiator that's on the CPU.  Thoughts?

I just discovered Koenigs' econ controller (http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/stepecon.htm) yesterday, which sounds like what you're looking for.

I'm thinking about making it even more econo, by modifying it for the Raspberry Pi as the MAME engine...

It's been mentioned, so I'm sure it's been done.
