Hi I have a commando board that has stopped working from looking over the board I noticed 2 parts were damaged.
Though I do not know what they're called to find replacements have circled them in the photo below.
If anyone could ID them for me that would be great Thanks.

Do you have a manual? Sometimes they have schematics.
Check out this (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7376) page.

those are capacitors. Whats the writing on them say?
The orange one kinda looks like 27pF but Im not going to guess numbers for you.

You are sure its the board?, You did check the power supply and the harness pins first right?

Yup got manual could only find parts of the power supply on it. Thanks.

I just went and had a look the Orange one has "104" on it if that helps?
And Red ones have "10 10+".

Tested power supply everything looks good there and yup checked harness pins. Have attached photos of the cracked parts on the board. Thanks

The orange ones look like filter caps for the IC's, so if one is bad it shouldn't have that much effect. The red ones, no idea.

Thanks guessing the red one is causing the problem then.

Usually if the board ID number starts with C (eg. c104)--its a capacitor. If it starts with R its a resistor. To read capacitors follow this guide
http://www.wikihow.com/Read-a-Capacitor (http://www.wikihow.com/Read-a-Capacitor)
Also, there are many different kinds of caps --electrolytic, ceramic disk (the orange ones) film etc. And the polarization is very important (unless its not marked then its a non-polarized version)
to read resistors you need to read the color bands.
Also, no offense but if you are unsure what the parts even are, troubleshooting things at the board level may not be a reasonable place to start (its typically an "expert" level of arcade repair) I say its good to learn but you may become frustrated very quickly...

Thanks! exactly what I was looking for.

The orange one is a .1uF. They're always across the 5 volt lines for ICs.
The red one may be a tantalum capacitor.
Here's info on figuring out its code

Ah Thanks yeah Red one looks like those Tantalum capacitor.

that is for the simple reason they are
note the + sign....
just remove the broken 1's
but these are not your problem..u have a logic problem...
start with the ram..if u can ? remove 1 at a time,clean pin's >carefuly like<
replace to the exact spot and way they were..reason is the board is 20 odd year's old
it need's a tune up

I agree with ed but just for the record, what exactly is the board doing, not booting

Thanks yeah, Power is going to the board but no sounds/display. Though speaker does have power.
