Title: D9800 Sync Problems
Post by: wp34 on October 03, 2014, 05:51:16 pm
I posted this over on KLOV but thought I would try here as well.

I have a Wells Gardner D9800 monitor that is acting up.  It will display a perfect picture using a Jamma PCB and analog inputs.  The PCB I'm using has a VGA output and connecting that way displays perfectly as well.

Using a PC though I get a "No Signal" error and can slightly see a wavy Windows desktop underneath.  I've tried a bunch of different resolutions with no luck.  I have another working D9800 I'm using to test with so the problem is not my PC config or VGA cable.  I suspect it just needs "reset" but can't find a way to do this.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

be sure your vertical sync frequency is proper. make sure it's set to 60hz.

set your system to 640x480x60hz on another monitor... confirm the resolution and frequency with the monitor's OSD (most these days display it) and then swap the plug into the d9800 and see what's up. if it works, work your way up from there. (i believe the 9800 supports 800x600?)

sometimes windows reports it's outputting 60hz when in fact it's doing something else. that's why double check with another monitor's OSD.

Thanks for the reply lilshawn.  The OSD does not appear to display the frequency.  I cant find it in the menu anyway.   I'll double-check that the PC is outputting at 60hz next time I test.
