Title: programming shift in ultimate i/0 ?
Post by: aldub516 on October 02, 2014, 10:39:49 pm
I seem to be having endless trouble setting controls to change volume in gameex / setting shift keeps in winipac v2. So i see p1start is default for shift key, but I have cleared out all of my keys and started fresh. I am confused as how I actually set the key that acts as shift, and what action i want it to take for different buttons..

current scenario:
1coin is programmed to key 5

i want to set 1 coin as the shift key, so when i push it down, it activates the shift, and if i let it go, it will go through with the coin insert.
I set gameex controls for volume as f5 and f6 for vol up down, and in winipac i set the shifted functions of joy down and up to f5 and f6. Hypothetically if i hold down 5 and push up or down on the joys the volume should work... The new interface of winipac confuses me. When selecting a port, i am given the option to set the port as a key.. under that the primary key function.. under that is a drop down for "shifted" and directly under that is a checkbox for "ipac shift"..

If i check that box, i can check it for multiple ports, which i dont think i can have more than 1 shift. So, how do i designate a key as the actual shift key, and how do i turn on the keys that i want to function with shift?

I am just trying to figure out an easy way to control volume in gameex through the control panel. My last build i got it to work by pushing down coin and up or down on joystick.. if i didnt use the joys and let go of coin, it would just add a coin so no harm done. Help?

I'm not sure about the iPac I/O, but for the iPac-4 it's easier to assign keys in "table mode" in the Ultimarc software.

Hope this helps!

You highlight the pin associated with your button on the circuit board graphic (ie 1COIN), then on the right check the IPAC Shift box.  Then highlight the pin for the button you want to add a shift function to, and use the drop down box labeled "shifted" to assign the shifted value.  So if you want to use 1DOWN for volume down when shifted, set the dropdown box in 1DOWN to F5.  Do NOT check the IPAC Shift box on the 1DOWN, you only set the IPAC Shift for the actual "shift" button.
