I have a table saw & a battery powered trim saw. It took me awhile, but I've decided that it is not cutting it.
Here is why: I'm cutting plywood, mdf, 2x4 etc.
I don't have any particular questions but I'm open to suggestions. I have a budget between $50 & $80.

there is a cheap line porter cable with a steel shoe plate at lowes that is $60. It's ok but not like the nicer porter cables that were sold with the magnesium bases. However, it's ok. I would spend the other $20 on the best 7 1/4" carbide atb blade you can get. If you're down with old tools I would seek out an older PC 743 or 345 sidewinder on ebay.

You don't have a good circular saw?

Table saw or Circular saw & saw board
Miter saw
Yer good to go. My miter saw is a Harbor Freight special and worth its weight in gold even though I paid a mere $100 for it.

I have a good trim saw. It's just the wrong tool for arcade cabs.

That's why you need a good circular saw.

Circular saw was my 1st power tool...Is my most used along with a drill...

I mostly use my Ryobi 18v cordless that was a gift but when I need more umpf I use my corded craftsman that I picked up for $15 at a flea market.

Skil still makes a decent 7 1/4" circular saw, and they aren't that much. But I would do one of two things on your budget: Either get a simple and cheap circular saw like an entry level skil, craftsman, or porter cable, or shoot for the moon and look for a used workhorse in a good brand with magnesium plate, maybe worm drive, etc. I got my Makita worm drive for about $75 used, and it will last me (and my son and maybe his son) a lifetime..
I have a skil that I bought new over 20 years ago, and it was great for many years, but then I used it to cut concrete for 10 hours straight, and that non-stop abuse took it's toll. Yet for the past 9 years since then I have not removed the diamond blade and I use it for cutting concrete, tile, cement board, etc. It is still working, although the bushing is shot and it wobbles quite a bit (but still keeps going). I will use it until it quits or the bushing goes completely out, which could be 2 more decades. Best $40 I ever spent on a tool. If I had not outright abused it, it would still be in perfect working condition today.

I've reevaluated my budget. I am going to a pawn shop next week and see what I can find. Not much time left in the Year of Star Wars.
