Title: Vertical Windows display - MaLa help!
Post by: davcom1 on September 22, 2014, 05:59:10 am
Hi all,

I hope someone can advise on the following... I am in the process of building a vertical bar-top cabinet using a spare 15" monitor mounted sideways and my old Aspire One netbook.

The Intel graphics driver supports a 90 degree angled screen so this means I can work on the set up with the screen in situ and Windows laid out in a vertical format.

Mame32 is fine with this but for MaLa to display properly, I have to change the Intel driver back to "landscape" and the set MaLa to vertical. This results in severe neck cramp and frustration with the mouse cursor when switching between Windows and MaLa.

Is there an easy fix for this?  Will I be able to work with the native vertical layout for both Windows AND MaLa?

(I have looked through previous posts and didn't see this specific issue raised but apologies if I am repeating)

PS. The verification letters Captcha feature is a PITA... maybe I'm getting too old!!

Hi Louis,

I think you are correct and perhaps I should have mentioned layouts. In normal operation, MaLa displays Mame games absolutely fine, its the "layout" that looks wrong.

With no layout skin, there's a short list of games which overlay my game snaps (making the text almost unreadable). I have grabbed a couple of 3rd party layouts which include vertical options but of course, only display correctly if I tell MaLa to rotate my display.

So my next question is... is there a way to get the layouts to switch to match the "native" vertical screen?
