Using an MS8-26SU with Calamitys drivers on Windows 7. There are several available modes that look nice but the biggest is 512x384. This is making software and mostly anything to do in Windows a pain. I've heard of it being capable of 1024x786@60i but it's not currently listed in ArcadeOSD. Can anyone tell me what the best thing to do here is?
-
1024x768 is only available if you're running in 24KHz.
Under 15KHz the best you'll get is 640x480i. You might be able to push it a bit higher by using a 288 line interlaced mode giving you 576i, but *if* that works you'll definitely need to adjust the monitor pots every time you use it.
Disable Aero and use Windows Classic to gain a few extra pixels, otherwise deal with it. I use terminal services if I have to and remote admin the machine.

Yeah, I'm running in 24kHz. The 1024x768 is only available at 60p which isnt viewable. Is there a way to add a custom 1024x768@60i?
-
Add it to Resllist.txt and re-run VMMaker.
-
My reslist now includes these under desktop.
## Desktop ##
640 x 480 @ 30.000000 desktop
1024 x 768 @ 60.000000 desktop
Re ran vmm but arcadeosd looks the same. Did I do something wrong?
-
Post your resllist.txt - it's spacing critical! (Looks like you made the same mistake as me, and the 1024 line needs the leading space removing)
-
Tried that spacing before posting this and modelines changed around a little but there are still no interlaced modes. I've attached the reslist.txt
-
Try:
1024 x 768 @ 30.000000 desktop
If that fails it's something to do with the _range lines in VMMAKER.INI

Hi ryandoesntstress,
Please post your Modelines.txt, ModeList.txt and vmmaker.ini files. There must be something wrong somewhere, the mode should be created fine.

Thanks for the help so far fellas. Here are those files

In vmmaker.ini, try setting:
monitor_specs0 23900.00-24900.00, 49.55-65.00, 2.91, 3.00, 4.44, 0.451, 0.164, 1.048, 0, 0, 480, 600
-
Set that line in vmmaker.ini, ran vmmaker, reset, looked at ArcadeOSD and found about the same thing. I've included a screenshot of around the area I would expect to see 1024x786@60i but there are only p modes. That goes for the entire list up and down.
-
This line will work:
monitor_specs0 24960-24960, 49.50-65.00, 0.800, 4.000, 3.200, 0.080, 0.200, 1.000, 0, 0, 480, 600

Cheers mate, OK! so I punched these lines into vmmaker.ini and ran vmmaker. 1024x768@60I was available in arcadeosd but when its selected it's all screwed up so I reverted to a lower resolution and reran vmmaker and now I cannot find 1024x768@60i. Also if I'm unable to use this resolution after being told by people that I can what other resolutions are there that are possible with my monitor that I would be able to run windows under? having trouble finding something bigger than 512x384
