Title: Painting Laminate
Post by: Richardgregory on September 14, 2014, 09:31:58 am
A friend picked up a cabinet that was made using what looks like a layer of laminate over plywood - the person that painted it obviously didn't care or know that the paint wouldn't stick to it, and so it scratches easily.  Anyone have any experience on what sort of paint would he need that'll stick to laminate?

He should throw down a coat of primer made for painting plastics, like patio furniture. I did that with a laminated cab and it worked great.

Or get a heat gun and just remove it, and start over.

Do you recall what the primer and paint you used?

Thanks

Ease on down to Home Depot and get some of this stuff:

No issues whatsoever.

Are you sure it is not full side vinyl art? There might be something awesome underneath the paint.
