My last build was a full-sized Centipede, so I've never really had to think about scale. I drafted up the attached and was wondering if there was any feedback. It will be a single player, 4-way with 2 buttons. Vertical 17", 4:3 LCD monitor. I'm planning on doing a cardboard mock-up long before I cut any wood, but thought I might be able to save some time if anybody notices some pitfalls.
Thanks in advance!

Okay, with no responses I banged out a cardboard mockup. I was pretty lucky that I had a box that was the proper width. Anyway, I'm pleased with the scale so I think this will be my plan.
The only potential issue I see is if I put those 1 & 2 player buttons on the front face of the CP like the original, then I'll probably run into a conflict with my joystick. I'm planning to use a GGG Leaf-pro which is pretty low profile, but not that low profile.
You'll see me over at Project Announcements soon!

No criticism here but I though the top looked a bit too "top-heavy". I get the original frogger homage but without the bottom half of the cabinet it just looks a bit off..

Yeah, I kind of thought the same thing when I first drew it up, but when I actually look at the model in person, I don't think it looks so bad.
I'm not sure of the best way to fix it. I'll probably need to add a couple inches to the bottom to give me the room for the switches so maybe that would help.
Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe just scale back the marquee a bit.

I'm working on a similar project with a scaled-down Moon Patrol. I think I took Jackobud's dimensions and reduced the overall scale until I had it to the height I wanted. Then I reduced the depth by mapping out the necessary depths for controls and the MB/PS and connections. I came up with overall dimensions of 22"H x 15.5"W x 18.5"D. I'm using a single-player setup with a horizontal 17" LCD.
I don't know how you intend to mount your MB (or even if you're using one), but make sure you have the room in the base for all the components you plan to mount there.

I like the shape. The hood will reduce glare, add sound effect resonance, and focus your visual attention better.
Id try adding 3 inchs to the control panel slope.. and 4 inches to the bottom.(which will increase the height, and beef up the bottom, to better match the marquees vertical dimensons)
