Title: What are you paying for printing?
Post by: mtd on December 11, 2003, 07:42:37 pm
I just got some quotes on printing on laminated lexan with an adhesive back and was shocked that it is only $12.00 a square foot.  Is this the going rate?

I'm curious about the going rate for this type of service as well.

Yea, that is pretty much the idea up to 36" in width and it can be a big sticker.  The printer said with the laminated vinyl you could use it as a kick plate and it would hold up.

However, he just turned douwn printing my control panel for copyright issues.

I found it by going into an embroidery shop, to get shirts made for my school, and saw the advertisement for stickers.  He then pointed to a sign they had made out of the same stuff.  I'd check your local embroidery shop.

I don't know *exactly* what sort of material you are talking about printing on, but...

I was in place today and they do displays for trade shows and other signs and banners.  I was asking him all about the giant full color vinyl stickers and he said the price was approximately $6 Canadian (about $4.60 US) per square foot.

I thought that was pretty good and if you're talking about the same stuff, then I guess its a really good price (if not, at least *I* think it's a good price :P ).  Minimum order is $40 CDN.

Is this a good deal??

Oh yeah, tshirt (Especially silk screen/embroidery), sign shops and custom auto graphics joints are good places to scope out as well for laminated vinyl. Go scope joints in your local area.

Actually $12 a sq ft is a little pricey for laminated vinyl IMO. I paid about that for one job but I had it trimmed intricately by them so it would look like a silhouette and not a big square sticker. It was a helluva trim job, and they did great work. But otherise yeah more like $4 a sq ft as Peanut butter stated.

This is THE perfect solution for panels, marquee,AND sideart. This is how real marquees are and looks nicer then anything.

I still dont think its not that cheap.I mean reverse print on lexan probley cost a whole lot more but never know.

$40, for 53"x17", 1440 DPI semi-gloss.  Avoid Kinkos, I think all of their stores only have 600dpi printing in large format.  (i.e. you can count the printer dots at arm's length in certain colors.)
