Title: Approximate value of Star Trek arcade machine
Post by: Hutt on September 07, 2014, 01:22:38 pm
What's a ballpark value of a 1982 upright Star Trek.
Complete but not working. Cabinet in pretty decent shape.

You may have better luck with a price check @ KLOV/arcade-museum.  Plus there are people that want to buy it there.  Are you the seller or buyer?

For Sale - There are 3 active VAPS members with Star Trek machines for sale. There are 2 active VAPS members with extra Star Trek circuit boards for sale. (http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/game_census.php?klov_id=9770)

I played it in MAME quick.  Its actually kinda cool.

Assuming you are the buyer:
I feel like you need to know
What your intent is.  MAME or Restore?
What your budget is?
How much are you willing to spend on acquiring the cab?
Would you have to restore artwork on this?
Can you test the board? Or have it tested locally for a fee?

Start @ $50 for the cabinet and +$10 for each part you don't have to repair or replace.  Good luck.

If you are a seller, its a wooden box.  Good luck.

Well, I'm the seller... and normally I may have had your opinion there... but first of all its not just a wooden box... its a wooden box with a pcb, power supply, monitor, controls, wire harness... etc.

Anyway, I put it on Craigs List this morning. Had 3 calls within a couple hours... one guy will go at least $200
The other were offers combined with another machine so can't really give a price on those two.
It's apparently more popular than I had anticipated.... that is why I asked here.

Its all about what the market will bare.

There isn't a lot of horse trading here, that is why I mentioned KLOV.  Best of luck.

I definitely agree and thought totally the way you did until I listed it. Actually almost thought about putting it on the sidewalk for someone to take!
Should have thought though... it is Star Trek... LOTS of fans!
I a huge Star Wars fan but hate the game even though I used to own one in near mint condition... that's another... with a fan base like that it should never be hard to get rid of.

On another note.... anyone have a Spy Hunter they don't want!!!

What's not working, the monitor or the board set? That would also determine price.
