vga scart on pal tv here.Curently im running groovymame from comand line in 320 x 240 to get proper results i have checked the cleanstrech option in the mame.ini to avoid scaling problems. The problem is when i try any frontend which is default resolution 640 x 480 groovymame wont switch resolution but just strech the games in to 640 x 480 interlaced.I have tried both hyperspin and mala with same results. My mame.ini is set to monitor generic_15.So what do i have to do to have groovymame switch resolution to low res mode.

Using CRT_Emudriver?

No i'm on pc with geforce 6200 le win xp

well then, there's your problem.
You need to read up on what Groovymame does and how.
You won't be able to get the low res's otherwise
-
well i have read up how groovymame works ie it should generate perfect possible resolution for games, not sure what you mean my problem is ie my setup or not knowing the in and out. Thats why i'm askin. Any ideas
-
No, you haven't read up on it whatsoever. See the stickies at the top of this forum.

i have figured it out. Seems i only have to change option in mame.ini and that was lock_system_modes i change it to 0 and i have proper low resolution. But games like r-type and mortalk kombat are in 640 x 240 instead of their native resolution. Anyone know why ?

With your setup (which is equivalent to using an AVGA from GM's point of view), you need to use these options:
lock_system_modes 0
refresh_dont_care 1
If this doesn't solve your issue with rtype etc, then post a log and I'll see what's going on (groovymame.exe romname -v >romname.txt).

Thanks Calamity for help
I figured it out that i need those two option in mame.ini with this setup rtype and mortal kombat display in their native resolution.Well except Smashtv which display in 512 x 512 interlaced i dunno why. I'm posting log u can take a look.
