So I bought this Nintendo cabinet today.
It's a Crime Fighters cabinet, but started its life as a Donkey Kong machine. I hope to restore it back to a Donkey Kong machine, this is the first arcade game I've ever owned so it will probably bee a long journey, but hopefully a fun one. I'll post more pictures when I can. The monitor looks to be in great shape, the wood has some dents, scratches, and a little rot.
I haven't gotten to spend much time checking it out, any tips on where to start?

actually, according to the serial number, it started out as a Vs. Unisystem
Donkey Kongs started with TKG. Still same cab shape, so make it a DK. Take your time, do it right

Does it work???.... You can enjoy it as a crime fighter as you save up some DK parts, The board, bezel, marquee, and cp, Would be my first purchases, However saving them in a box till the big transformation day... If you look close at that monitor (with it off) you will most likely see a Donkey burn on the screen.... FWIW, that T moulding was white on a Dk, so maybe check that one for signs of replacement, and wiring chops. Congrats on your new find !!!!

We'll this may change things for me, I've always wanted a mario brothers cabinet, but when I thought this was an original DK I changed my mind.
I think I'm going to make this a Mario Brothers cab as originally planned.

Well no, Guess I have never played the Crime game, But all games are fun at first till you get tired of them.

If that were the original serial plate for the cab the screw heads would have been packed with some sort of epoxy at the factory. My guess would be, it did start life as a DK and has been through 3~5 conversions since.
good day.

Looks like a fun project! I love taking on projects, even if they are not related to arcades. I find restoring old speaker systems to be a good way to spend some relaxing time!
