Title: Update for front page and menu link question
Post by: PL1 on August 26, 2014, 07:04:37 pm
The old front page here (http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm) has a link to the old wiki. (left column, bottom)

Can we at least update the wiki link and please provide a clearer path to the forums?

The "Msg Boards" link is REALLY well hidden -- too well hidden IMHO.

To noobs, that page looks abandoned, like it hasn't been updated in years. (because it hasn't)

There's no hint of the bustling, vibrant community hiding behind the 4th link from the bottom. (21st link from the top)
-----------
Also noticed that the menu link to the main forum list is labeled "Arcade".

Is there a reason for calling it that instead of "Main", "Main List", or "Forums List"? :dunno

The "arcade" link used to take us to a page where we could play games online (flash games?).  Here's the thread when they started but I didn't find one about when it got turned off.

Figured it was something like that.

Not sure why the link and/or menu haven't been fixed/changed.   :dunno

I think in addition to that there should be some sort of message on the front page that the site IS the forums & WIKI now, get rid of all the other just and just have 2 links. 1 to the forums, and 1 to the WIKI

Now that you're an admin, bro, can't you just change that ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---?

I can somewhat understand Saint wanting to keep the the menu of topics on the left side of the front page, but a message and links like you describe (plus a link to the new FAQ  ;D) on the homepage would be a great way to guide readers to more current info.

With the articles on TESTED (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,141023.0.html) linking to the front page, now is the time to make these changes.

Like you, I'm still just a guest in the house that Saint built.

We can give remodeling suggestions, but when he wants to keep the avocado green shag carpeting and burnt orange appliances . . .
