Just a heads-up that in response to feedback and extensive beta-testing with customers, Xgaming has updated the electronics / encoder of the X-Arcade Controller in Feb. of this year with the following updates:
http://www.xgaming.com/pages/new-x-arcade-pcb (http://www.xgaming.com/pages/new-x-arcade-pcb)
This new revision board is included in all X-Arcade Tanksticks or BYO or PCB kits purchased after Feb, 2014 and will be incorporated into any Solo/Dual purchased after Dec 1st, 2014.
Other updates:
15 Simultaneous Button Presses
New encoder design can handle 12 simultaneous inputs/key commands and 3 additional using the modifiers (CTR, ALT, SHIFT).
Change Programmed Modes Without Pressing Load Button
Due to feedback from customers, we removed the requirement to press the load button to change modes (which could be difficult if your controller or PCB is mounted in a cabinet), modes are changed (and loaded automatically) based on the position of the Mode switch.
Uses Arrow Keys For Player 1
No more issues with pressing the num-lock key as this board uses the arrow keys (not num-lock keys).
Improved Speed
Newly designed board circuitry provides performance and speed matching any current encoder.

 for fixing the issues.
Having to press that button on the back to load alternative settings was an ongoing annoyance.

We are truly sorry, but our intentions were to make life easier for X-Arcade owners. Since the mode switch is located on the back of the unit, we were worried customers would accidentally change the mode and then be confused why their controller settings had changed.
It turned that we under-estimated the usage of the programming function for different emulators/games, so we hope you guys appreciate it.

Is the new board a drop-in replacement for the old one?
(switch in same place, connectors all the same, etc)

That's correct, drop-in replacement.

And will you be offering a trade in program for existing owners of your defective product?

It's not really a defect just a poor implementation so doubtful they will offer a Free fix (perhaps they will sell the PCB separately for those that want to purchase it. Main problem going forward is there will be no way to tell if one you order from a secondary source is an old version or new version (Unless they make some sort of product name change or provide a means of knowing which PCB is installed without having to open the thing up and look (and even doing that since it is a drop in replacement there is nothing to stop owners of older units from swapping out the PCB and reselling the new one with an old board they replace which makes purchasing anywhere except direct from them a risky proposition.

You can tell by checking if joy1 acts like numpad keys or arrow keys obviously. There's nothing wring with the old ones, these are just some improvements.

Yep. Since they want about $100 to ship to Canada, I bought from a Canadian distributor out west, back in April/May. I must have an old PCB because the P1 joystick maps to the numeric keypad. :(

I ordered from their eBay store, much better shipping rates.

Also you can get around the six button limitation with the 5-1 and the xbox360 connector to the PC. Long winded, I know..... :)
