Ok guys,
I know a few of you use wiimotes with Linux, but i want to do it with Windows 7
I have modified a Wii sensor bar to work through USB, and am in the progress of getting a bluetooth adapter..

I have this link for software: http://glovepie.org/ (http://glovepie.org/)
That SHOULD be everything...
Has anyone else done this? Thoughts?
I will keep this thread updated as i go, until i get it worked out for anyone else who may do it in the future as well..

Ok, i tried to connect the wiimote to the PC with a bluetooth dongle i bought off ebay that i usually use in the car for connecting my phone to the PC in that..
No joy there.. it would connect, sort of, but i couldn't get it to do anything at all..
So i'm getting another bluetooth dongle, that has been reccommended to me... hrmm it better be good.. :dunno

Keep us updated with this.

Yep, just waiting for the new bluetooth dongle to arrive :)

Just a heads up, I tried this yesterday and was able to get it to detect.... However I was unable to get it very accurate... I didnt like the fact that I had to aim at the sensorbar vs the traditional TV.... But them again.... I didnt hook it up to my cab and tested it on my laptop.... I think I'm going to put it in the can this weekend and see how it runs...

Did you do any sort of calibration?
I think you have to somewhere...
-
I'm not having much success...
What software/settings did you use to get the wiimote working dueceduzit ?
My wiimote gets detected by windows... but keeps dropping out, but doesn't seem to get detected by anything else other than dolphin..
Maybe i'm doing something wrong..
-
Ok, i've got the wiimote working as a mouse in windows, But i don't seem to be able to get it to work in GM..
Testing in Point Blank, and nothing happens.. at all..
have changed these in mame.ini
mouse 1
lightgun_device mouse
no joy
Edit:
Had to disconnect normal mouse..
So now it works.. but not very well... it's a bit jittery speedwise etc.. and hard to move the pointer...
Maybe i should look into the linux version from a USB stick when i want to play those sort of games....
But i know NOTHING about linux etc

Hi Sledge,
Please try this with official MAME. GroovyMAME has been reported to be not very responsive when working with analog controls. Just wondering if we need to fix something there.
-
Yeah it is better with official mame, but no where near what i would consider to be enjoyable for long term use..
For a start there's no calibration of the wiimote to the screen, so no 1:1 mapping, so.. the gun will never be pointing to where you're shooting on screen..
When i have more room i might try some more to see if standing further from the screen helps.. but i doubt it will help much..
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that how a Wiimote works normally? When I had a Wii the lightgun ports were horrible to use from typical lightgun distance, you needed to be the other side of the room for it to remotely resemble 1:1 mapping.
-
Possibly... but i hear of all these people using the wiimote with PC's etc..
But i think for arcade, being further away from the machine won't be good .. but we shall see..
Will be a while before i can try it from a distance
