Title: H2seq only support mappings to keyboard and not to Joystick buttons? (A-pac)
Post by: flash951 on August 17, 2014, 05:25:56 pm
My next problem is getting the sequential shifter to work with H2seq, I've got the A-pac, so the buttons input comes from the Joystick controller and not from the Keyboard. H2seq seems to only support mappings to keyboard and not to Joystick buttons. I've tested a Joy-2-Key program, it worked well for M2 emulator, so I got Sega Rally to work with H2seq, but the joy-2-kdy will not work in MAME.

Correct. What non sequential shifter games do you want to map in mame?
Thanks

I realize there is not to many games, so this is not a problem after all,  the first one I wanted was Hard Drivin. I understand that MAME use raw input from keys, and I can live with that.

Download RacerMAME 151

It has the change to the source code that allows MAME to accept fake key presses.

I can't think of any racing games that have made any progress since v151 and doubt any of the roms have changed.

The only thing you lose is multiple keyboard support.  You can still use multiple keyboards, but pressing the "A" key on one is the same as pressing the "A" key on the other.
In other words MAME won't be able to distinguish between Keyboard 1, Keyboard 2, etc.
That probably isn't going to be relevant to most people's setups, let alone a driving cab.

RacerMAME also has the nag screens removed, but I don't like to advertise that

I already use RacerMAME 151. What do you mean by fake keyboard presses, please give me some description?

The Joy 2 key program should work with RacerMAME.

Yes, it seems to work after all. Hard Drivin' that I've first tested seems a little special with the gear changes, some versions are set to use an analog stick and some versions to use keyboard. It doesn't work for me with h2seq, but I get sort of some reaction in the gear shifting, but it doesn't shift correctly.
