Title: PC LCD Monitor auto on?
Post by: nemesismachine on August 18, 2014, 10:47:42 am
My current MAME cab has an old TV with the "Power on after power loss" feature which is great for non-arcade monitors.  Can the same thing be done dor PC monitors?  I want to build a desktop cab for a friend, and the monitor does not have this feature. It may be necessary to leave it the cab plugged in, and the monitor can go into power save mode, but I'd rather it be more authentic (all on, all off).

If it does not have "auto on" as you describe, then the power button on the monitor is going to be a momentary switch similar in function to an arcade button.

You can easily have an arduino attached to a 50 cent relay that will make the connection for the monitor power button.  You just have to solder the + and - of the button to the relay and trigger the relay w a pin from the arduino.

There might be an easier way, but that just came to mind.
