Title: Makvision 29" CRT in MK4 cabinet
Post by: Pixeljunkie on August 18, 2014, 09:06:39 am
Hi everyone

First of all i'd like to introduce myself a bit since i'm new here.
I'm from Belgium and i've been into arcades ever since I was 12y old, my first games being MK1,2,3 and Streetfighter :)

I have already restored and converted a War Gods cabinet into an MK2 cab, of which you can find a clip here : http://youtu.be/ibFt1OfnNlI (http://youtu.be/ibFt1OfnNlI)

I recently bought a decent MK4 cabinet that I would like to convert to a Killer Instinct or MK3 cab. As part of the restoration, I bought a brand spanking new Makvision 29" Tri-mode arcade monitor, but that's where the problems begin. I know that this cab is originally a 25" cab, but I found a thread on another forum where a guy was able to fit a 29" into his MK4 cab : http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=285360 (http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=285360)

Thing is, something has gone wrong in translation (inch to cm's) because I just can't seem to align the brackets so that the monitor fits properly..has anyone here tried the same or does somebody have the right measurements for me ?

Thanks

When I mounted a 27" medium res monitor into an MK4 cab, I had to drill new holes in the monitor frame bracket and drill new holes in the top cabinet brackets. I basically drilled 2 holes as far down as I could, then slid the existing bolts from the side of the cab into them. Then I put 2 lath screws into the existing hole for just a bit of extra support.

Its tough to see the bolt holes in the monitor , but this is the only picture I kept.  I couldnt get a picture on the tube due to a chassis problem, so I pulled the CRT and put an LCD in there instead.

Thanks for the reply Malenko. I drilled new holes in the existing brackets, but the (additional) problem I have is that the provided monitor bezel is too short on top, so it's kinda hard to install the monitor without a proper bezel to align it to :(
I need the same bezel but un-trimmed
