Title: Star Wars and SSF2 issues with W7 & CRT Emu Drivers, Groovymame 153
Post by: Andypc on August 13, 2014, 08:00:46 pm
A couple of issues with Windows 7 & CRT Emu Drivers with Groovymame 153

Star Wars is starting, but I get a blank screen. The game is running as I can hear when I add a credit. Also Super Street Fighter 2 has sound issues as it is selecting a resolution with the wrong refresh rate.

Please see the attached logs.

Hi Andypc,

Starwars is a vector game. Check this post: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,139658.msg1444493.html#msg1444493 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,139658.msg1444493.html#msg1444493)
(basically, you must not have cleanstretch enabled for vector games. There's no point in having it enabled in mame.ini btw).

SSF2 can't pick its resolution because for some reason you're forcing dotclock_min 8.5 in your mame.ini. Do you have a good reason to force dotclock_min? If you do it you should either do the same in vmmaker.ini so you create the required doubled resolutions in the first place, or use super resolutions as an alternative.

Unless you know what the specific options do, my advices is leaving the default options in mame.ini, only modifying the monitor option to match yours

Besides, always use a build based on SwitchRes 0.015b or above when in Windows 7. Otherwise you're missing important fixes that I did specifically for Windows 7.
