Title: Any hardware device/dongle that can block 31khz P.O.S.T boot signal?
Post by: P.H.U. on August 03, 2014, 08:49:07 pm
Hi All,

I have a cab that is no longer JAMMA compliant. I also have ArcadeVGA. My project computer for HyperSpin is quite old and there are software issues that I encounter setting up the FE and MAME in use with AVGA and my cab. I was thinking of using GroovyMAME and the Calamity drivers to avoid using ArcadeVGA which has proven to be all the pain in the ass it is purported to be in setting up.

I can't use the J-PAC since my cab isn't JAMMA wired anymore, so I was hoping perhaps there is another device out on the market that can block the 31khz P.O.S.T boot-up signal. An in-line VGA dongle would be perfect if such a thing exists. I did extensive searches and couldn't find anything.  Please advise.

Thanks!

How about dropping in a cheap PCI second video and setting the BIOS to use it as primary?  It won't be connected to anything, so the BIOS screen won't display, but you can set Windows to only use your PCI-Express card that's connected to your monitor.

You could also just buy a spare JAMMA harness, interface it with your monitor and ignore everything else, and run your PC signal through the JPAC.  Sure, it'd be overkill but no sense in not using something you've already paid for...

Novel idea! Has this been done before? Hope my board has PCI and option for PCI VGA in the BIOS.

you could setup a circuit (relay interrupt the sync line) to be controlled via LPT port and switch the sync "on" when windows boots.  :dunno
