Hi,
I have a self built emulator arcade machine running hyperspin from a pc and I have now installed my ps3 inside a swell. Please can someone tell me the best way to connect the audio for the pc and ps3 to work with the same speaker system. At the moment I have a good quality 2.1 standard pc speaker setup.
Many thanks

There are two (three) ways to accomplish this. First thing though, how are you presently piping audio from your ps3?
HDMI - look for a headphone socket on your TV. Or if you have digital out get. this. (http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Analog-Converter-Adapter/dp/B005DIRI6I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407187022&sr=8-1&keywords=digital+audio+to+RCA) The ps3 has digital out too.
RCA - find a cheap composite cable and change the audio settings to output to your 2.1.
I have the first option as my TV sound sucks and I use the headphone socket. Also helps if your PC is connected similarly.

Hi,
My ps3 is connected via HDMI and using the RCA cables for the sound. The problem I'm having is that my pc speakers has a volume control unit and the sound input must pass through this to work!. 3.5mm jack into the pc .From the volume unit it then connects to the sub and out to the two smaller speakers.
There must be a better solution then hacking into the wires?.
Does anyone know of a good sound system that will run my pc and ps3 sound, which will either run both with no switching or can easyly be switched. I have seen people install car amps systems into there cabinets, is this a good way to achieve what I want?
Many thanks

Nah you dontneed to install car amps if you already have a pc speaker system.it has the amp built in.i just did this on my cab to get audio out the pc speakers when i have my xbox running.all you need to do is get a 3.5mm splitter cable, male to 2 female,a regular 3.5mm male to 3.5 mm male wire and the 3.5mm to rca splitter brian said to get.
Now plug the 3.5 to 3.5 splitters male end into the green port on the back of your pc sub, then plug the wire coming from your pc into one of the splitters female ends, now take the regular 3.5mm cable and plug it into the other open female jack coming out of the back of the sub, take the other end and plug it into the 3.5 to rca,now just plug in the rcas coming from your ps3 and your all set.
That is the simplest way to get the sound out without cutting or hacking anything.the only problem is sound will mix if both the devices are on at the same time, but thats not a big issue, obviously you can only use one at a time anyways.there are many ways to acomplish this, when i did it this i used a relay to automatically switch over audio signals, and made my own wiring harness.its not necessary the way descrubed above is fine,im just OCD.
