Title: Wiring Advice...just a little direction.
Post by: mann0mann on August 01, 2014, 06:56:45 pm
I ressurected an empty midway styled pacman cabinet that was destroyed, painted over, graffitti, etc. I've brought it back to life and I'm going to build it around a JAMMA based ArcadeSD multiboard board and a 4:3 LCD Monitor (It's all I have...sorry don't hate.)

My question comes from the Power side of things. Since my LCD Monitor needs AC Power, I was thinking that I would wire like so -

12V switching power supply ---> Power Strip w/at least 12 ft cord.

LCD monitor --------------------> same Power Strip

And then route the power strip cord out the cabinet.

But then I thought, it might be nice to have a toggle switch like the original Midway games have up through the top to be able to turn the machine off from the outside.

Any thoughts opinions on that...am I just over complicating things?

Or is there an easier/better/cleaner way for me to do all this?

Just take the hot wire of your power strip and cut it to extend it to a SPST switch at the top of your cab.   When you switch on the power strip all items plugged into it will receive power.
