Title: Bending corner protector...i mean Marque holders
Post by: brihyn on July 24, 2014, 12:46:27 pm
Hey all-
I bought a couple corner protectors from HD to use as marquee retainers. I need to bend them a bit to match my angles and having issues.
When I used the heat gun on these, they ended up with quite a few ripples, corners bent in a bit, etc.
When I built my original machine, i don't remember having that problem, but I'm not sure what I may have done differently (with the exception of using the heat gun on the carpet the first time, leaving a nice scorch mark that the wife wasn't impressed with).
Ideas? Could I have just had too much heat? better way to bend these open a bit to make them look nice?

I would guess it was too much heat.  What about going with some stair trim?  That is metal and I would think you could cut/bend that easier.

Thanks. the stair trim is an interesting idea.
I was actually wondering if the L-channel from a drop down ceiling would work as the side rails on a virtual pin.
