Post by: tx2000 on July 10, 2014, 10:35:04 am
Long time lurker first time poster.
First things first.
I was able to complete this project because  of all the information available in this forums.
I just want to share the pictures of my build and get some input.

It looks great! I love the marquee.

What material did you use?

thanks i was scared building that huge thing but came great at the end.

the marquee is 1/2 wood that i cut out the letters. is back-lighted with RGB led strips and to cover the letter holes is actually white paper

i forgot to add that i am missing the front plexy / acrylic / glass.

on the same note the arcade will be static. should i go with glass on it? is a 39 inches screen

That's some awesome glue you've used to stick that thing to the ceiling  >:D

Nice work though chap. Really like what you did with the marquee  :applaud:

Details.  What kind of sticks/buttons you use?  Manual or auto switching for 8/4 way?

I personally shy away from WD greens, but other than that, pretty great build.

at last my relay came today, i am waiting to go home to install it.

now i don't have to turn on  lights, sound, tv, computer separately.  Just turn on the computer and every should turn on.

this plan is flawless (in paper)  ;D

BTW i am a intel guy and i went on this computer with AMD.

The integrated card in the A10 5800k CPU runs street fighter 4 without a problem.

I am impressed.

At last got the relay installed.

here is the relay 40amps a little overkill but everything have his own fuse
(http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/TX2K/20140715_173738_zpsnjq1ph5b.jpg)

here is the outlet that it will be controlling and the line that goes up (the orange one ) that goes to the lights
(http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/TX2K/20140715_180550_zps5xmrzpz6.jpg)

here is the relay connected the back part cuts the live wire to the outlet and the front one goes to the computer so the 12v line (it accepts from 3 to 32 volts dc)

here is the connector that goes to the computer's power supply
(http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/TX2K/20140715_183750_zpsnzim4jez.jpg)

and all installed
(http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/TX2K/20140715_184612_zpsxdcq2jgw.jpg)

i did a power on test and when the computer boots up, the sound and lights turn on with it and when i shutdown everything turns off.  I am glad everything worked  :)

I hate this. I am almost don with the Arcade, only missing the acrylic,  and i want to build another (already ordered some parts)

this is worse than crack  :banghead:

If the cord you used for your AC wiring is standard, you have used the neutral wire on the relay and left the hot wire always hot.. not the best practice.

Black - "hot"
white - neutral
green - ground

I have heard so many stories of people getting shocked when they thought the circuit was dead mostly from improperly wired light switches.  I even heard a story where a circuit breaker was wired backwards so even when the breaker was off the hot wire was still hot - and this was from someone who was swapping out a garbage disposal, lying under a sink with wet hands and a little water all around.  Scary.

Good idea though, if the relay was pretty cheap.

i will check the wiring ans soon i get home. but the relay was only 14.99 with shipping and heat-sink

BTW Thanks dkersten for the observation

Muahahahahaha!  Welcome into the fold!  Soon, sooooo soon, you will be wanting multiple cabs.  A vertical with leaf switch buttons for shmups.  A dedicated fighting cab.  A dedicated four way.  Then come the pins.  And the Jukebox.  Then the disapproving glares from the wife.

I think I will go with cocktail for my new build.

On another note, the a10 5800k APU is a great little device. Running without a problem, super street fighter 4 arcade edition.  Street fighter x tekken and  mortal combat komplete edition.  Looking for more PC games to put in there. My daughter loves fighting games.
