Title: Monitor Smearing?
Post by: sac01 on December 08, 2003, 01:08:38 pm
Ok, I have a 19" Sampo CGA monitor , My problem is when running a game, lets say mspacman for instance, the maze gets distorted under where the score is displayed... This only happens when the score (white display) is changing, the maze directly under the changing numbers jumps up and down as the score is going up.  This happens all the way down the screen in a column.

I installed a cap kit hopeing that was the problem, no luck. :(

I also found that if i adjust the horizontal hold, it will help somewhat, but not completely resolve the issue.  It also seems to be more prevalant when the screen brightness is turned up to a normal level.

Thanks for any input someone might have... Ken? :)

It could be an electrolytic capacitor that was not included in the cap kit gone bad. Could also be the color trimpots on the neck board may need a little tweaking.

Thanks for responding Ken... I have played with the color trimpots alot, no luck there... i'll take a look to see what caps are still left, i thought i replaced all of them, maybe there was a stray not included in the bob roberts kit.

it's a shame, cuz this monitor had a great bright picture and good color other than this 1 problem

Also, is there any way a power supply would cause this?
