Title: SSFIV & SSFIVAE - Games for Windows Live version can be converted to Steam
Post by: BadMouth on June 30, 2014, 03:36:14 pm
This is old news, but the activation key from the GFWL retail box or Capcom download can be entered on steam.
This was done because there is no longer a GFWL Store.

Why it's relevant now:
Ultra Street Fighter IV is coming out soon and this way you only have to buy the $15 upgrade instead of the full game ($30).
You can upgrade from either SSFIV or SSFIVAE.

Ultra Street Fighter IV - Official Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d__QncYv3VU#ws)

Not sure if it's worth it or not.  5 more characters, 6 more stages & rebalanced gameplay.
Otherwise, it's the same old game.
I had some credits at greenmangaming, so I went ahead and pre-ordered the upgrade.

FYI, I gave my SFxTekken key a try and it was rejected.

EDITED: added prices and noted plain SSFIV also eligible for the upgrade

How much is the upgrade?  Anyone know if they fixed the keyboard issues?

$15 at launch (August 8th), doubtful

"users who purchase the retail or full download version of the game will also receive all previous costume DLC released for the series (a $40 value), making this the definitive version of Street Fighter IV to check out!"

.....so I guess those who only purchase the upgrade don't get the previous DLC.
Not that I care about costumes and such.

Yeah, IIRC I paid $5 for the DLC when everyone complained...  I may do it again once it's on sale.

D

Bump for the upgrade being released today.
I haven't played it yet.
