Hey all - quick question - I've seen several threads about powering the coin door lights, and the answers have varied so I wanted to try and get some quick clarification.
Midway-style wired cab, feeding about 6.2V to the coin door area. I gutted most of the cab to setup a PC-based MAME machine and I was wondering: Can I simply wire the existing coin door feed wires up to the 5V on the PC power supply, or will the 555 6.3V incandescent bulbs be too dim that way? Figured I'd ask before I go wiring anything pointlessly. Thanks!

In my experience - yes.
General advice - son, get some jumper wires and test these things out for yourself.

Haha - yea, yea, I know. I just get jumpy when anything power-related is planned thanks to my previous chassis meltdown. You'd think some bulbs wouldn't worry me, but hey, I try to cover all my bases. Thanks!

Just a follow-up for future forum browsers: I grabbed a spare power output connector in the PC tested the output as 4.7V. I gave it a try by hooking it up to the two yellow wires headed up to the coin door area in the cabinet. The lights came on, and did not look dim. Easily bright enough to see, even in a well lit room.
