Title: Neo Geo Project.
Post by: steved61 on June 28, 2014, 12:29:44 pm
I find myself being in Central Florida next week visiting family and came across this.. What does everyone think of this cab as a starter for a Neo Geo cabinet ? (http://thearcadeboneyard.com/machines_for_sale/project_machines/project_machines_page_2.php (http://thearcadeboneyard.com/machines_for_sale/project_machines/project_machines_page_2.php)) Red cabinet on the bottom of the page.  I would have to add a monitor, PCB, joysticks and buttons Etc. Seem like a good deal or just start form scratch ?

I'm not sure I could live with that button layout.

Me either, but it's a wood panel and easily rebuilt.

Same here. How the hell is some one supposed to play like that?!

I'd personally go with one of the other cabs they have for sale. Or make a new control panel for that one and just not try and make it neo geo themed. Nothing about that cab other than the color says neo geo.

I agree that it looks a little awkward. But man, that's a decent base for something cool as hell.  I can picture a bad ass red/white/black NeoGeo theme (basic line art), reworked CP, black t-moulding, and a slick single sheet glass dark tinted bezel.

If you do it right, and completely rework the angle and layout of that CP, it would be one wicked looking cab.

Exactly. I'd also ask for a BYOAC discount.

Yep. The CP layout can be fairly easily remedied. It's a good base cab.  :)

In my life I have purchased 6 complete and working Neo Geo systems and most of them cost less than that fully parted out cabinet you are linking to. By the time you repopulate that you could have bought a very nice dedicated machine.

Personally, I think it would be a decent cabinet with a different cp
