Title: Logitech G25 or G27 Shifter and Sega Control Panel
Post by: codeena on June 27, 2014, 12:07:38 am
Hi all,

Has anyone tried (and hopefully succeeded) disassembling the G25/G27 shifter and fitting it into a Sega twin racing control panel shifter mount? It seems like the G25 would fit, minus the section with d-pad and the dial to switch from sequential to 6-speed. I've been using the original mount with a sequential shifter hooked up to one G25 shifter and then my second G25 shifter was mounted to the right of the seat. I would switch plugs from a serial extension cable before putting in another game. But I'd rather to use a single shifter in the original Sega control panel, but having it look as close to the original as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Also look through the stickied driving cab examples thread for some that just mount the wheel without extending the shaft.
Gbeef's build in particular.

Thanks for sharing vandale and you did an awesome job! May I ask how you secured the original outer plastic of the G25 shifter? I was thinking of screwing in the metal frame of the G25 shifter into the sega metal frame with some modification. How do you play sequential up/down-shifting games? I was hoping to be able to switch from up/down to 6spd. Thanks again

Thanks Brian74. I had already saw your posts and I'm envious of your build. I wish I could the same but I think my skills would fall short. It's definitely ideal for me to use the G25 wheel as you did especially since I like to use the paddle shifters for F1 games and one of my faves, Virtua Racing. But I think I may keep my current setup that I've been using since the G25 came out (similar to GBeef's).

Thanks. I secured the shifter via 2 alloy brackets direct to the cabinet chassis. I use the paddles behind the steering wheel for sequential games :)
