Nothing special really, I am just putting together a couple of Mame cabinets that people are giving as Christmas gifts.
The first one is going to be a video poker cabinet with a 17" horizontal monitor and a Neo Geo layout. This one is for my friend Jake's dad, Jake is paying for all the parts, and I am putting it together. I think it should come in under $150. Just waiting on the keywhiz before I put it together.
The second one was ordered by someone. I had a knock on my door friday, and it was someone asking me if "I sold those games". I said yes, and they came by the next day to examine my collection. They liked the Artic Mini Mame best, I showed them an empty mini I had in stock, and said I could duplicate the same exact same software and controls setup in that one. They paid a deposit and will pay the rest when they pick up the game.
That one is going to be a bit more "professional". So far I have added new locks to the coin doors, installed a 14" PC monitor in an arcade frame (the 14" monitor fit the frame mounting holes from the old 13" arcade frame I used, showing that 14" PC monitors and 13" arcade monitors have the same size tube. The monitor has been installed now, in the next couple days I am going to hack a keyboard, build the panel (using a home depot stair cover as an overlay), install a smoked piece of plexi, and get the computer together. Hopefully I can finish by the weekend so that I can get my money in time to do my own christmas shopping. =)

Paige, yet AGAIN you have not posted any pictures. >:(
How do you expect us to learn from your examples if there are no examples to follow? ::)
This is a travesty. Nifty projects we can't see.
I demand that you make this right for all us @ BYOAC.
Okay, okay...I'm MOSTLY kidding. I would love to see some pictures. You and Zakk have done a ton of conversions, and they're all good. I'd like to say I've done my part as well, but I really can't, as I haven't even finished ONE cabinet (but I've got four projects going. ::) )

My digicam sucks, and I don't have internet access at home, thus I don't tend to post as many pictures as I should.
But I will try to snap a few of these before they are gone. ;D

No 'net access from home? I'm guessing from work then.
What do you do?

I am an overnight hotel manager. When I recently moved into a new apartment I decided not to get phone or internet service there. The T-1 at work and my cell phone is good enough really. The only real issue with not having home access is in taking project pictures.

Updates.
Pac-Man marquee, VGA monitor, and working marquee light installed in the Pac-Mini.
Computer fully configured for the other 2 player unit. (Celeron 400, 64 ram, Win 98, mamepp version .55, mamewah. Also has the special versions cabinet versions of the Genesis, Atari 2600, and Nes emulators installed. Mame rom list is customized. All vertical, analog, 5+ button, mahjong, quiz, and adult games removed.
I promise to snap a few pictures of these things before they leave, with any luck I can even get a picture of Ron opening up his two player unit (we are going to wrap it).

Hey, as long as you're happy. I had thought about going cell only, but I don't think it's feasible for us at this time.
T1 at a hotel? I'm guessing it's for the hotel guests to surf? Are all the rooms wired for 'net?

Yes, it is for the guests, every single room is wired. Of course funnily enough, all our own internal company systems dial out to each other (long distance) all day long, even though they are all hooked up to the t-1 also.

I did that this year...cell only. ISP is through cable...I think the days of landlines are numbered.
Oh, sorry...I'm OT again.

Ok, Pac-Mini shot #1

Pac-Mini photo 2.
Note, all of these photos have been heavily brightness/contrast/saturation adjusted. They started off as dark blobs (just about all my camera can take indoors).
That is the Time Pilot dedicated cocktail in the lower part of the pic.

These next two pics really don't show much. I could barely even adjust that cruddy image out of the pictures I got of them. At least you can see some of my games in the background.

Wow...man, you should take some of the money from the cabs you're going to sell and get a better digital camera. I did. Had to convince the wife it was a good idea, but it's one of the best investments we ever made. She absolutely loves it.
It's such a time and money saver. We only print the pictures we want (and we don't print them here, we print them at a photo service)

Ok, the Pac-Mini is finished and gone, and I forgot to snap a picture of the finshed product, but it came out really nice. I probably could have sold it for more than the $500 I charged for it.
The other cabinet is nearly done, I promise I will get a few good pictures of it. ;D
