so here is my attempt at a diy coin mech..
things i used for it are
some acrylic i got at homedepot for about $10
a reed switch which i got for about $1 (took it out of door chime they sell at the dollar store)
and a neodymium magnet about $2 on ebay
super glue to put it together
and a piece of stainless steel wire.. for the small lever to bring up the magnet when the quarter hits..
took me a few hours to make and it works really well..
im just sharing this lil project cause maybe some will one to try making one to instead of buy one..
its a very simple design and very easy to make..
here is a video of it working...

yeah, i tried pennies, dimes and nickels, but if you wanted it to just accept a certain coin you could just adjust the opening and/or cut out a slit on the side to drop the coin thats not big enough, very easy to make for a certain coin tho..
