So the wife's sister is back in town and since we have this awesome pig cooker(http://www.lacajachina.com/ (http://www.lacajachina.com/)), she's invited her whole family, her sisters Fiance's whole family and various friends over. So I am to make a master pig again but I have ~14 kids to entertain as well of various ages.
I've had on my list of projects a Showcase/Dynamo cab for a long time with a 42" TV I picked up for cheap that would rotate. I've had various threads about it in the past. Right now however, I think I'll just build a pedestal that can be stood up quickly and torn down quickly.
So what are thoughts on the quickest pedestal build with the idea that it may not be the end product. I would plan to just simply cover all the wood in Speaker Vinyl so the kids can play.

Gotta be severedhed or pbjs builds
Make a seperate mount for the TV that cant walk away on its own. pbj mounted his to the wall in the garage (at least that is the way looks in the picture)

Where does one even buy a whole pig for roasting?
Yeah, since my pedestal resides in the garage, I just mounted the TV to a 2x4.
Hardest part is the control panel, IMO. The base throws together very quickly, or you can just mount the panel to a barstool if you want to get really easy.

:lol city guy.
From a pig farm of course.
Any butcher should be able to hook you up (even in the city), but a lot of farms have their own butchering facilities.
I used to help out with a biker party that we got a pig for each year.
We'd just call the guy and tell him what size we needed.
It's a lot cheaper than you'd expect since all they have to do is gut it & chop the feet off.
From their shop to the back of a truck, to a pig cooker.
Stay up all night drinking, maintaining the fire, and putting out flare-ups.
The next morning you've got tender pork falling off the bone.

How cheap is cheap?

How cheap is cheap?
It's been a long time, but IIRC the last time I picked up the pig (probably 5 years ago) it was $118 and bigger than the tiny little pigs shown on the links Kahlid74 posted. I seem to remember a much larger one I helped load costing $165, but I didn't handle the check for that one so I'm not sure.
The larger one took three people lifting it to load.

Thanks for the thoughts! I do plan to just mount the TV to the wall for the time being, and I figured the CP would be the most time consuming. So what would be the smartest build? Three buttons for each player? I've always done the 6 buttons for 1/2 to keep fighting games in mind but I don't expect to use this long term and I expect it to be 3-4 player the majority of the time. Thoughts/Concerns in rolling three buttons only for each player?
Pig roasting. These boxes can do 50-100 lbs primarily. I got an 80Lbs pig last time that ~25 people only ate 1/3 of so I'll shoot for another 80lb pig. 100+ pound pigs typically go for under $1 per pound. The smaller the pig the more expensive it can be as there are some nasty diseases going around that kill the little ones. So the 80lbs one I got for $140 with tax. Not a bad deal especially for how long it has feed us and the family.
This project may give me an excuse to use my panel saw finally!

The only games that use four are the Dungeons and Dragons games. There are only two of those IIRC.
No big loss IMO for a temporary party setup.
If it were me, I'd leave the top bare and use a sharpie to label the buttons for sports games; maybe let the kids draw all over it.
The controls on the beat'em ups are easy enough to figure out.
Quickest build=almost all right angles OR repurpose something else.

Well, if you wanna save $7 on buttons and make SF2 and Mortal Kombat unplayable.... then by all means....

I actually agree with James. People love playing fighting games. Even if it's temporary, go 6 buttons if you can on 1 + 2. Just don't go all Kaneda on 3 + 4, and you'll be fine.

I have left over Dry erase Vinyl I'm going to use (used it on the last CAB I built and was awesome).

Money wasn't the object of limiting buttons, as the time to drill/layout the additional buttons, while not much, is still time, which is the main diminishing variable here. But I will stay with 6 so I don't short change anything.

has no one suggested 4 PS3/360 controllers plugged into a PC?
I mean if you dont get the build done

Sorry for the late response, this week has proven to be a large chunk more populated than I thought.
I was working on the pedestal Sunday morning and the wife came down and asked what I was working on. I proceeded to tell her about it, since she was always telling me I built cabs for everyone but us I thought she would be happy. As I continued talking she got a funny look on her face, you know the one if you're married. She was silent for a moment and then goes "There's a lot of other stuff that also needs attention before Saturday" and walks out of the workshop. Needless to say I stopped working on it as she's about 1 week away from her due date with our second child and I don't feel like enraging a pregnant woman who's ready to pop.

I own an Ouya, which emulates almost every MAME game with ease, so I typically run that on the projector but I was thinking an actual arcade control panel would be fun too.
Either way thanks everyone for thoughts and suggestions.

I would not enrage a very pregnant woman anyway let alone my wife ;D Best wishes on your upcoming baby!
