I would like to know what my other options are. I don't know how to solder wires and I'm not good with woodworking. But I DO NOT like the gap left when you lay the x-arcade joystick down on it. I'm talking about the sitdown wide one sold on recroommasters.com
That is not supposed to be like that! Why not make it flush. I guess because there are side buttons that need access.
Are there any other options to purchase other than this brand of cabinets that works usb plug and play?

Post a link so we'll know exactly which one you're talking about.
But if you mean the japanese style sit-down cab on the recroommasters.com site, there are several versions of it. One that you rest the xarcade stick in, one with a flat board to rest your MadCatz fight sticks on, and one that comes with a fully functioning control panel already built, setup and will plug into a PC, PS3 and/or xbox 360. It's about $800+ depending on where you're getting it shipped.

Most reviews I've read of that cab have been positive. But ultimately it depends on what you want to spend your money on. I don't have a lot of space and tools to work with either. But I don't have a problem learning. Essentially it's like this. The easier you want it, the more money you're gonna spend. The more work you spend, the less money you may spend (if you're smart about how you work).
If you want to try your hand at painting and assembly, but don't want to do a lot of wood working, check out this guys kits:

From what I've read online in the Shoryuken forums, this guys work is top notch. But you need to do some filling, sanding and painting. Or you can spend more and it'll come to you painted, but you'll still have to wire everything up.
If you're scared of wiring up a control panel, there are a ton of easy options out there.
If you want to hook up controls to a PC, 360 and PS3, google the PS360+ PCB. No soldering and you can use it with all 3 machines without a lot of hassle. Or you can get a Xarcade PCB kit from XArcade. No soldering required with those either, you just need to get adapters to make it work with other consoles. If you just want to connect it to a PC, then you can go with an iPac encoder from Ultimarc.com.
Decide on what you want, ask questions about it, and the peeps here on the forum will help as much as we can.

I guess I have to figure out what I want then. I'm stuck. I want the arcade look (already have other consoles hooked up to my big tv and stereo)
But I want to play console and dos games too..so I can't do an upright unless I get stools. (Don't want to stand and play games of NHL 94)
For that I could also put a couch in front of it and use my USB SNES controllers but then i'd be looking up at the screen.
But I have realized these arcade games were meant to play on a smaller tv and you have to be right in front of it or you'll be squinting.

There are a few other vendors out there that I recommend:

Some pictures of your setup and what you don't like about it would really help
