Title: Cheap Marquee light for Bartop
Post by: leapinlew on June 05, 2014, 10:45:15 pm
Hey guys -

My fluorescent died on my Defender bartop after less than a 100 hours of usage (estimate). I thought I'd replace it with this:

I bought this at Homedepot for the same $6 price.

I then used a 15 watt bulb:

Also purchased at Homedepot for the same $3 price.

Total cost was $10 and I have a spare bulb. I bent the metal tab over, drilled a hole in it and mounted it directly to the cabinet (bottom marquee shelf).

Attached are the results. The tempest cabinet still has a 13" fluorescent bulb, and the defender has the 15 watt bulb. I'm sure the bulb is generating some heat so I'll report back if there are any other issues, but so far so good!

Take a look at these.  I'm gonna try this in my next build.
