and also theres a coil of brown metal or paper at the back of the cabinet half inside a metal box. it has 5 leads on top with numbers ranging from 5v - 120v underneath.

the part no. is 560-5027

It sounds like an important part, so I'd wait until you have an affirmative answer before plugging that thing in.

By the way, what is it you're working on?
