I just received an old street fighter. I want to remove the monitor, but I am not sure how, it looks pretty encased. Thanks in advance!
-
got a pic of the front? Im pretty sure the 2 pieces of wood are bolted together
-
The most important question... Did you discharge the monitor so that it won't shock you?

What's that got to do with anything? If he pulls the whole thing out as 1 piece it doesn't need discharged.

its ok we all know pbj is a :special need's person:
to the question
leave the monitor intact
un-plug the ac feeding it and the rgb/grnd/syns input line
go to the front of it remove the 4 screw's that holding the full and i mean full fram in and remove monitor in 1 soild piece..do not remove the 4 screw's holding the picture tube to the frame,but rather the 4 screws holding the frame to the wood
just make sure the game is un-plugged from the a/c

Thanks all, especially ed12. I had to unclip something inside, not sure what that was, but that let me pull out the plastic/artwork/bezel from the front, unscrew it, and lift it out. I am still alive.

Glad to hear that you removed it safely. :applaud:

So I am still curious about this. Do you really have to discharge if you are removing in one piece, chassis and all?

No

I always do it just to be safe. I've read too many horror stories about people accidentally touching parts while moving it.

It takes a second and gives you peace of mind... Even if you're just moving it.

Ed, what's the story behind why you compose messages the way you do? Is it as difficult for you to read the way we type as it is to read yours?

See, that's what I'm talking about Ed. Tell me how a book is going to help me if I can't read?
Your capitalization, spelling, and spacing are unusual. When you read other peoples post, you do realize the way you are composing messages is different, right? I asked initially because I thought maybe you had some sort of disorder, or was posting from a sidekick, or using some speech to text software.
So I was just politely asking if there is a reason for why you compose the messages the way you do. However, if you want to trade insults I suppose I can do that, assuming I can understand what you are saying.

I think what leapinlew means is that there is lack of punctuation. It makes the post look fragmented and you can't tell where each idea starts and ends. (I have to admit I also find it difficult to read since I'm usually a stickler for grammar). But to each his own.

He's not sure how to pull a monitor but you advocate him discharging it?
Seems like you're telling him to run before he learns to walk.

When is the appropriate time to tell someone not to kill themselves?

When is the appropriate time to tell someone not to kill themselves?
Less dangerous to pull a monitor in 1 piece than it is to have newb try to discharge a monitor inside a cab and then try to pull it.
-
I agree Malenko. Just wanted to make sure someone at least told him, "Be careful, you can get shocked if you touch the wrong part". That's really what I should have said. You're right, there was no need to overcomplicate things.

right
the poster never said they wanted to remove the tube olny..
as a rule and after repairing crt's longer then most have been around
i do discharge...but the poster olny wanted to remove the full thing..
my grammer fall's under to each there own
if u pp want proper grammer noun's and pronoun's then all of u do your self a favour
a=learn to read
b=increase posting size
c=get off of the high horse u are on,it's a long way down trigger
d=learn to spell
e=make sure u do the same,respect is earned not given

What do you plan to do with the monitor? Does the tube have any burn?
Working standard res arcade monitors with good tubes don't grow on trees. Please don't junk it if you are planning to replace with an LCD, there might be someone in your area that will take it off your hands, and you'll make a little cash to fund your project.
