Title: Replacing fuses // Do I need to match both Amps and Voltage?
Post by: esparragoz on May 28, 2014, 12:03:50 am
Well, I am coming to the forums with a question for my first post.  I just had some fuses pop on an arcade I bought and found some replacements.  The problem is, all voltages are up to 250V and my cabinet specifically lists 12V and 7V.  I've posted a picture of what I'm putting in, and what I bought -- can anybody confirm that it's okay to open and use the fuses I've purchased?  I just don't want to make a silly mistake and fry this game before I get a chance to play.

What I need to replace:

What I bought (correct A, up to 250V):

first i would want to know what blew them ??
then replace them

as a rule
1amp =1amp  voltage is of a no nomre concern :presay:

the voltage is the max voltage the fuse can handle
THE AMP IS THE CURRNET IT WILL BREAK AT ie 1amp = 1 amp
5 amp =5 amp ec etc
but for the love of god find out what blew them

to have a 1 amp -x 2 blown and a 5amp-2x on the 7 volt rail blown
tell's u there is a problem..

Match amps........voltage can be same or higher....not lower.  And also match so-blow or normal speed of fuses as well.

Thanks for the fast replies!  I suspect it blew for a really dumb reason, the guy I bought it off of didn't know why it didn't work--so he had wrapped all the fuses in foil.  I didn't realize it until I turned it on with a new board and the fuses popped.  I'm hoping nothing else is messed up.

So, I have 2 more fuses that I need to check out.  I think they're right, but the markings are worn down.  To play it safe I'll just buy some new fuses tomorrow. I was anxious and turned it on really quickly--it was a success!  Thanks for your help everybody; I'm hoping after putting in the last 2 new fuses this won't happen again.  Getting this fast reply really made a difference, though.

Just use tin foil.  If something starts smoking, unplug it.

Thanks for the tip PBJ!  The new foil strips turned the cab into a great game, and an even better cigar lighter!

All is well and it looks/plays great!  My monitor came on all messed up, but after playing with it for a while I got the screen in a good place.  There are no settings for vertical width, though--and my right side is slightly askew.  The next step of research begins...

Title: Monitor Adjustment -- No Horizontal Adjustment Knob
Post by: esparragoz on May 28, 2014, 11:43:31 pm
Okay, so now I'm going a bit off post; but figured it might be better than throwing up a bunch of posts.  From what I've read, my screen issue should be pretty simple (looks like I just need to play with the horizontal size).  Problem is, I can't find that anywhere on my monitor:

The picture isn't great inside the dark cab, but from left-to-right I have V Size, V Hold, H hold.  I've got my RGB color knobs and a focus knob elsewhere, but no other way to adjust the horizontal size.  Has anybody seen this before?  The monitor type is a 19VJTP22.

then mess with the dials.

The main issue is that I can't find the dial, though.  It's not that it isn't responsive.  I did a little research and may have found where it is, but if I'm correct in where it's at I'll need to get a plastic monitor tool (or so I was referenced to do so in the video I watched).  If it turns out to be the correct place I'll post pics for anybody who may stumble upon this thread in the future.
