Title: Project: NARC restoration
Post by: Bayne666 on May 22, 2014, 04:29:55 pm
So I just bought a NARC cab from some guy who didn't have room for it anymore.

CP:

So I thought I'd restore it to the best of my abillities. :)

There's a sticker under the CP that should come off easily with the right stuff.

All the t-moulding is missing for some reason. btw is this the right slot size for t-moulding?

both joysticks are a bit rusty

and this is the only place where there's signs of wear and tear. easily fixed ;)

Here's the coin op. Can't seem to get it to work though... if i go from the back and manipulate the small wire thingy it registers 6 credits and I'm like "whoa" :P

One of my all time favorite games, I remember pumping tons of quarters into this sucker.
Driving that Porsche was so bad azz!
I never used to like the Narc cabinet itself, but as I got into the hobby I found an appreciation for how different it was.
I will certainly follow this thread.

You doing anything unique with the cabinet, or a stock restoration ? (not sure if cabinet alteration is as  taboo here as it is on KLOV)

I don't think I will be doing any major alterations as the cab is in pretty good shape as it is. Even if it was banged up I would try to restore it to its original glory, not because I felt it was important but because it would be fun :) I guess I'm getting old :P

Wipe it down with lysol, touch up the black, and get the controls working 100%.  That's a decent shape cabinet and I'd leave it mostly as-is for authenticity.

I cant seem to get the coin op to work. any ideas?

It won't register any coins when inserted. It says on the screen insert 1 DM/5 DM (which I assume is Deutsche Mark) but in the fron of the coinop it says to put in 5 or 10 Norwegian Kroner (I live in Norway, and I would like to have the cab take NOK)

There's some wires "unplugged" but I have no idea where they go..

I did find this "wire" that registers credits but only at random it seems and then 6 whole credits 0.o

Any ideas?

Do I have to get a whole new one?
