I want to put a port for a network cable the back of my cab so I can hook it up to my network if need be, but I want a more elegant solution that I can screw in or something but that isn't a traditional wall plate. Something like this I guess, but more elegant:

Can anyone help me out with what I'm looking for?

-edit- ignore this, the product I thought would work turned out to be totally useless for what you want.

Maybe something like the Neutrik feedthru NE8FDP (http://uk.farnell.com/neutrik/ne8fdp/feed-through-rj45/dp/1202032) or NE8FDP-B (http://uk.farnell.com/neutrik/ne8fdp-b/socket-ethercon-solder-panel-8p8c/dp/7270379)?

There are also Neutrik covers like the SCDX (http://uk.farnell.com/neutrik/scdx/cover-for-d-size-shape-plastic/dp/1390146?MER=en-me-pd-r2-acce-con).

That looks about right! Any idea what the difference between those two is? Can't really make it out from looking at them...
-
One has a black finish, the other has a nickel finish -- other than that they are the same.

Ha, simple as that eh! Thanks.

Have you looked at keystone jacks?
-
here is a pic of mine....
Outside is the plate to connect and inside is the RJ-45 connects directly to PC.
-
Yeah I want something a bit more discreet than a plate like that
-
nobody ever goes behind the cabinet ;D

That's it! How about routing a shape just larger than that, and securing it on the inside?

Only just got round to Googling this. Looks promising! It's a shame the majority of the plates for holding these seem to be so big though.

Also, Google "Panel Mount" network jack, something along those lines. The key here is the phrase Panel Mount. You'll find what you are looking for. Keystone jack is basically just a wall plate with interchangeable ports.
Here is just one I found. Very discreet. Found silver, white, black, grey.....

Beer for that man! Perfect Dungeonsdeep.
It's hard to know what to search for with these sorts of things when you don't know the technical terms for the different types.

Exactly, I was running into the same problem while building my NES PC. I needed an HDMI Panel mount jack...but had no idea what it was called.
Here is an album of my build, if you are interested (shameless self promotion >:D)

Nice!
Have ordered myself a part for about £15. Quite steep but at least it looks right!
