Title: First Scratch Build. Back porch Pressure Treated wood Vertical Classics Cab.
Post by: nitrogen_widget on May 13, 2014, 03:06:42 pm
I told my friends about this Berzerk cab in my basement & how I was fixing it up.
They suggested I put it on the back porch (which has my deck attached) for when I have people over.
I thought about it & decided I really didn't want to do that.
Then I decided to put the Berzerk cab on hold & build a vigolix for my porch.
Then I thought "hey! I have all this left over pressure treated wood from my deck" and the hamster wheel started turning & squeaking.

Anyways, after about 3 hrs (using my Stern cabinet as sort of a template) I've come up with this so far:

Everything is just tacked together with deck screws right now.
After it is all assembled i'll run the grinder/sander over it to get rid of the splinters/round off the points then put some carriage bolts into it to make sure it's solid then cover it with the some Bear Deck stain. They have some great colors.

Tomorrow i'll figure out how wide I want it (probably 21" CP to house the 4-way, PS2 lighted trackball & 3 buttons) then put the floor, front & top panels on to get it standing on it's own.
I don't have plans or measurements written down because I just kind of made it up as I went along using what I had available however the CP height & top height will be the same as my Stern Berzerk cabinet once I put the casters on it (give or take a little).

I was just thinking about how you could water proof a cabinet to leave it outdoors.

It does have a unique look to it. I like where its going already.

This has some potential for sure.  I love the reclaimed wood idea!

Its what I made my deck out of.
Gotta love Craigslist.
It was more work but I built a deck by bigger than I could afford new.

And thanks everyone.
Building one from scratch seems to be faster than stripping old paint off an original cab.
Even faster when its acceptable to be a little rough around the edges.:-)
