Title: Ultimarc Console Adapters Questions...
Post by: Gatsu on May 12, 2014, 12:01:28 am
I was looking around at the Ultimarc website trying to price some stuff for mame-ing my cab. I noticed the console adapter section. Ooooo.

Has anyone used any or all of their console adapters in a jamma cab? I wonder if there is any major input lag with it going through the i-pac like it does for controls. And also, how easy is it to get it the systems up & running on an arcade monitor with the video adapters? I noticed they had adapters for the PS2, original Xbox, Ps3, 360, Wii and Dreamcast.

Would be expensive after a while to get all the stuff for all those consoles...but easier than trying to get emulators working for them all. lol.

Cheaper to get a Xarcade system.  The 5 in 1 and 3 in 1 adapters cover a huge selection of recent console including the ps3 and Xbox.  The Xbox 360 adapter work well with the PC and has no 6 button press issue. These work well with analogue and digital joys. Xgaming usually have good sales on, and will offer excellent lifetime customer service.

I take it these only work with the X-arcade sticks though right? Can it be rigged to work with an i-pac?

No you sell your iPad and buy the gaming controller board.  It is a far superior product for console interfacing.  Unless you are just using emulation, thus any encoder will do.  I prefer the real thing.

Ah rock on. Yeah I'll probably end up selling my i-pac then and grab the x-arcade board.

Then it's just a matter of getting the AV adapters for each console, which I can get through Ultimarc, except the Dreamcast. But I have the VGA box for that, that I can hack to work.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll only need to get 2 of the controller adapters. The 5 in 1 and the Xbox 360 adapters and I'm good.

I had the very same problem.  My consoles consisted on DC,Xbox,PS2,Wii,N64,CDi,PS3,360,and the PC.  I had a terrible time trying to get all these working together, so I had two choices, either a LCD TV, or a KWorld 1440.  The Kworld allows Component, Composite, and VGA.  I was using a spare LG W2261VP which had all three VGA, DVI, HDMI.  The Kworld converted all the consoles that was not HDMI via an AV switch box, and the Xarcade was switched via a serial9 (this was before the 5-1) so with the right numbering you could get whatever console working without too much hassle.  Personally I would use a Kworld as it will work with an arcade machine monitor, but you will have to scour ebay, as these units are discontinued.  If you have these consoles use them.  Nothing better than the real thing.  ;D
