Hi all, just fired up my megatouch force and it locks up while booting displaying the message" touchscreen controller not responding" I have checked all the connections to the touchscreen controller and all seems ok, the green light on the touchscreen unit is on and the voltage going to the unit is correct. I fitted a new psu to the machine a couple of months ago and all has been working fine til now. Any ideas on what I can do next to fault find please? Many thanks. ..tim

When you touch the screen does the green controller LED increase in brightness?
If it does then the screen and controller are at least talking to each other...You might get lucky and have a corrupted hard drive.
Try doing a DIP switch 4+7 clear or reload the software if you have the discs.
If controller LED does not change when touching the screen I would be suspecting the controller itself and try swapping it out as a test with a known good one...

yes that is correct smartbomb
expect,if it is an orignial hardrive ?,it will have a back-up .dat
hence the reason for 4 and 7 or 4 and 8 which ever floated :merit's: coder's boat that year..
it is called factory :restore:...

Hi again. When I touch the screen the green light on the touchscreen controller does respond. I also reset the game using dip switches 4 and 7 which went through the reset ok but still displays touchscreen controller not responding? If I turn the machine on about 10-15 times it does boot to full game and works and plays fine til I turn it off. Any ideas what I can try next? Many thanks

Sounds a liitle strange that it works only occasionally....
If its not a bad connection maybe its bad caps on the motherboard?.... See any swollen ones?
Not much you can do here without any spare parts to try...

Sounds like you have a short or a loose connection in the touchscreen controller, or the glass overlay. I had a megatouch where one of the wires soldered to the glass tore off and was barely making connection. I had to gently resolder the wire to the glass overlay. Worked like a charm.
-
I had a touchscreen wire come loose before too but was unable to resolder it because the trace just melted
away when the iron hit it...if this turns out to be your problem... be careful and use the lowest heat possible.

Thanks for the info, sounds like this could be the problem as if I wiggle the wires that go from the touchscreen controller to the glass panel it helps it fire up. Im struggling to see how I get full access to the whole front glass to check this out but will keep looking and see if I can figure it out and let you know. Thanks for the tips..tim

u remove the cabinet right off of it,to do this
in the back u will c what look's like to tit's,these are your locks
u realse them and push the cab foward
it will realse and lift off for u,then looking from the front,on your right side
u will c what look's like a wire wraped in tape, this is your senser wire from your glass
and it will go to a flat plug, this is where u want to be sure it is making good conection

Many thanks ed will get stuck into it tomorrow and let you know..thanks again

Me again, well I managed to get to the glass panel at the front and all the wires were securely attached to the solder points. I noticed there is a plug that sits on the touchscreen controller so I pulled that off and sprayed it with some cleaner now its firing up every time and responds very well. One more question though if I may, my monitor is quite dark even after I adjust the brightness and contrast to full on the little board. Is there something else I can do to sharpen up the brightness at all please? Thanks again
-
well with the age of it,it's no surprise
but u could touch up the :screen control:,it is on the flyback
should be lower control and upper is :foucs:
what u are doing is just re-blanaceing the tube

Ahh didnt realize you were in the UK. Would probably cost too much to be worthwhile for me. But, if you have a working maxx, you could use the controller from it as long as its a microtouch. It would probably have a SMT-3 sticker on it. I know for a fact they work on 2011-2012 ION because i put one in an ION system once. So i dont see why they wouldnt work for force aswell.
Oh and if you still want to sell it, I wouldnt mind buying the Motherboard. Shipping shouldnt be too bad. I think theres USPS international flat rate medium box.
