Here is a nice video of a guy finishing Super Mario Bros 3 in 11min!!!
download the video here: http://ebaumsworld.com/smb3beat.html (approx 18meg, wmv format)
Boy is this guy good. I've never seen anyone bounce around a SM3 level like this dude. And I thought I used to be good knowing how to get the warp whistle! ;D
-
wow that guys is good. That rates up there close to the Tetris Absolute Grand Master 2 video from a few months ago...
-
Damn, I have the game down to 20 minutes. I guess I gotta work at it a little more.
Well, I learned two secrets I didn't know before :) I never thought of warping at the level select. I always got the warp whistle in world 2 also. Dang, that will cut down on time.

Semi related: I saw a vid (a really small bad quality vid) of some guy playing an arcade game I couldn't quite make out, but it had something to do with hitting buttons on the control panel to music. The guys hands were a blur playing complex classical music (maybe one button per note?) while something that looked like colored balls fell from the top of the screen and... am I on my own here?
-
Thats been posted berffore, I know what you are talking about.
-
Phew, oh good. Was scared I was losing my grip on reality (or, more of it). Anybody know what the game was, or where I can find the video?

I think you mean this video: http://sung.producto-valvo.com/cool/kusos.com.12.22.mpeg (15MB)
Not sure what the game is, but the guy sure does have some fast hand movements :P

And here is a video of the grand champion of Tetris. These guys must practice day and night??

the game with the buttons is one of the Pop'n Music series. Don't know which one exactly - very fun game though. One of the only games my grilfriend has ever liked - on the dreamcast

Holy crap, I actually saw a business guy doing a run just like that when I was in Japan visiting my brother. It was THE MOST impressive thing I have ever seen in my life, he got his lines up to 999, and his high score was something like 999,987 then he died, he looked like he was in his 50s too. I really wish I would have taken a picture or something, cause it was seriously the most impressive thing I have ever witnessed.
-btw, that Super Mario Bros 3 is so good, makes me wanna play it again, well sorta
-
I want to play it too, but I don;t think I could remember the patterns like that guy did.

Somehow restricted access
hi! i had to restrict the access to this site because the traffic got ridiculously high in the last few weeks. it's an really easy "protection" so you should find a workaround if you're not a complete newbie :)

I downloaded it on to my computer at work...
if you want it... let me know where I can upload it to...
and I can upload it to you....
I only have a geocities... I don't know if it can hold that file....
if you want, I can give it a try...
-
Okay, so who's going to splice this footage into the movie "The Wizard" so that the kid actually beats SMB3 on the first try during the competition?
-
that pop n music video is sick, it makes me want to play it but ive never seen it anywhere on the boardwalks near me. hmmm controls for this will have to be included in my bemani/music games cabinet

The SMB3 video isn't real, per se. It's a guy playing it through in an emulator, saving state every frame, and re-loading if he messes up. Impressive, but not as impressive as first thought. Details here:

I read this on another board, and I thoughtthere was something about taking out every Nth frame or otherwise speeding it up ever so slightly also

I had a feeling it was just too good to be true. At least I can take back my title as the best SMB player in the world now... :P ... I wish.

How disappointing. Although you would have to be godlike to never make a mistake like in that video.
-
damn i really thought the japanese would be capable of that if anyone. ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- we better call ben savage and let him know hes still the best =P

gosh
thught someone would notice.. with only 2 flutes that would have you ending up in the 2nd row.. in order ot get to level 8 on 2 flutes you need to warp from level 2<desert level> and things like passing over all of the weird square stages in level 8.. not gonna happen.. good editing though

No. I made the same mistake also. I had to go back and play SMB3 to see. You can use the two flutes in the first level to warp to level 8. I went back and checked.
-
well what about passing over the stages that are all lined up in a row that drag ya in?
-
Yeah i guess you are right about that one. I cant see anyone getting that lucky!

yeah, unless he used an emulator and saved every time he passed over one of those things that grab you.
