I recently picked up this Nintendo cabinet from CL for $200 in pretty good shape with a working monitor. It had Vs. SMB installed in it. I already have that so my plan was/is to convert it to an original Mario Bros. I got everything ordered needed to complete the conversion/resto. I got a working boardset (thanks smalltownguy2), bezel and marquee (thanks nesjess!). Ordered side art, cpo, buttons, insert coin decal, cap kit and flyback for the monitor. Already had some t-molding. Also ordered and installed a Braze Technologies HSS kit. I spent nearly an entire day re-wiring the cabinet from scratch, basically, because the Vs. SMB is wired totally differently from regular Mario Bros. After I got all that done I was able to test the PCB and do some quick monitor adjustments.
Everything eventually arrived and the whole project is complete. Here is the library of pictures. Opinions, whether good or bad are always welcomed...

I had to fabricate a whole new control panel from scratch because nothing on the Vs panel lined up with the Mario CP...

Spent some time and installed a full cap kit on the chassis and the audio board including the replacement of TR373 and TR374. Also replaced R472, R473 and R478 on the chassis. Everything went smoothly. I adjusted the B+ to 108.1vdc, adjusted the colors and got it looking good. I also didn't really like the fact that the front of the control panel had to be painted black because I couldn't wrap the CPO around it, I decided to just cut a t-molding slot and install some t-molding like the DK panels...

Upper marquee retainer, lower marquee/upper bezel retainer and Insert Coin Decal were the last parts I was waiting on. When they arrived, I got everything installed and completed the clean up...in my eyes anyway. It's a far cry from the disaster it once was. Yes. Nintendo released conversion kits specifically for Pac/Ms. Pac cabs. This is one such kit. They even included ID tags for the inside of the cab that say they are for Pac/Ms. Pac cabs.

Yep, the Vs. kit for installation in a Midway cab. The kit contained the ever elusive AV-01 audio amp/video inverter combo board, which has been a GREAT little tool for my test bench. Allows you to run inverted Nintendo pcbs in a standard monitor setup.
I have a full wiring harness from a Midway Vs kit on my "sell it someday" shelf. I should probably try to get that sold.

Good job on one of my all time favorites!
I am torn on the marquee. I don't understand why Nintendo created such a basic marquee, but since it's one of my favorite games I look past it. I did make a marquee for a user for his Mario Bros. bartop

Well I picked it up today. Ended up getting the cabinet for $200 because we spent a hour trying to figure out why there was no sound and he didnt have the right back door for the cab. I will post better picks tomorrow=/Today
