I'm looking for a peer-to-peer, LAN-based racing game that I can play with an 8yr old. Any recommendations? I prefer LAN based client/server setup. It seems that these type of games have been absorbed by the Borg.
What about online games? The Disney "Sugar Rush" would be perfect if it were multiplayer.
Thanks!

Maybe you should post this in the Driving & Racing sub forum?
I cannot think of any racing games, unless you had two android tablets and Riptide.

Outrun 2006 still has a lan mode. That's the only one (worth playing anyway) that I can think of and it isn't even a kart racer. You might want to try the Sega All Stars Racing games, but I'm honestly not sure if they have lan or not.

E-games, Mini car racing.. needs no lan. Fun as heck.
I think theres a Daytona USA hack to allow network play, and Daytona USA beats the pants off of Crap-Run 200X. (Which doesnt deserve the name out the far more Epic, Out-Run)

Are we limited to PC games? Do you need to control the server? There are probably a lot of console games that would work if you want to go that route.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check those out.
PC games only, yeah. I'm shooting for a mini kiddie LAN party. I have lots of PCs and only one Wii.
The Sonic All Star Racing Transformed looks promising, but it's not clear if it's strictly Internet multi-player or can do LAN. I've read as much as they offer on the site, but they don't mention details. I guess tech specs are dull to their constituency.
Disney shoulda designed Sugar Rush as multi-player and sold it. I'da bought it.

Probably no way to do it with a large display for each kid but Mario Kart DS works that way.
