Title: Discreet door catch
Post by: s_busby_uk on April 27, 2014, 03:16:53 pm: For the bottom accessible rear panel on my cab, I'd like a catch that means I can open the door by pushing it in so that it then pops out, with no signs from the outside that it's openable. Sort of like a secret hatch. I THINK the following is what I'm after:

...but obviously I can't test it online. Can anyone tell if it will do what I want without a handle, and if it's not what I'm after does anyone have an option they'd recommend?

This type of catch also avoids the potential problem of snagging on the pointy assembly the other one has mounted on the door.

Lots of people use them for kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and they will probably see more use than an access panel in your arcade machine. The good thing is that if one breaks, you can go back to Home Depot or lowes and get another one for a few dollars.

Post by: s_busby_uk on April 29, 2014, 10:37:30 am: I've realised that the problem with these is that they rely on your "door" being able to push past them, so to speak, so that when you want to push them close there's room for them to engage the push mechanism. Which is a problem for me because the doors currently rest flush against two pieces of timber!

So I might have to use a handle after all - unless anyone else has any ideas?
